News you can use

Dear Parishioners, I hope that we can use this to facilitate communication. As you might have heard, the Diocese of Cleveland and the other dioceses of Ohio have said that all public masses are prohibited through May 3.

Here's hoping that there will be some good news about that. It appears that the threat of the virus is receding. God willing, we will be seeing each other in church soon. Meanwhile, let's keep lifting each other and our parish in prayer.

Speaking of which, I ask you to remember in your prayers Barb Combs and Dale Tolar. In the midst of this crisis they are in the hospital for surgery. Nick Toros is in Jennings, along with Sophie Somajtes. No visitors are allowed in either the hospital or the nursing home so send your prayers their way.

I would like to thank all of those who have been sending their envelopes to us in the mail. Bill Gayle was joking with me the other day about whether the virus made the bills stay away. No, it doesn't, and I appreciate the special generosity of a few people.

Our food bank was closed Holy Saturday but I really want to commend the volunteers from other parishes who run our Saturday morning distribution of foodstuffs. They have worked out an excellent system of drive through service. I give them a lot of credit for coming down and working so hard. God bless their generosity!

I am writing this Easter Sunday evening after a quiet day. My prayers are with you.
